Aquila Networks has a strong presence across the country; however, our business is decidedly local. Indeed, we started out as a local utility more than 80 years ago. Today, we are a trusted energy supplier to more than 900,000 utility customers living in hundreds of communities across Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

As a utility serving small and large towns, we definitely understand your needs and the issues that you face. In fact, Energy Resources offers you a unique perspective and the opportunity to join with us – utilizing our experience, technology and information to successfully leverage your utility assets. Plus, our regional spread and overall size give us an understanding of and capability to operate effectively in the national power markets.

Our Midwest roots also assures you of the kind of business relationship you want – focusing on trust, commitment and superior customer service. Our decades-long track record as an energy supplier gives you confidence that we are here to stay.

The Sibley plants 1 and 2 in Missouri are 50 MW units that were constructed in the late 50's and began commercial operation in the early 60's. Sibley 3 is a 400 MW unit that began commercial operation in 1969.

Nothing is constant in the energy business. We have to stay flexible to overcome hurdles and capture opportunities. Energy Resources has the resource to help you plan for …and react to… each situation. In fact, we can serve you in three important ways:

  • Energy Agent – Taking your energy to the market and selling it on your behalf.
  • Energy Buyer – Buying your excess capacity and/or energy.
  • Energy Seller – Selling additional capacity and/or energy to you when needed.

Energy Resources lets you tap into the energy supply asset management expertise that comes from operating multiple electric and gas utilities:

  • Operating Electric Utilities in Missouri and Colorado
  • Operating Natural Gas Utilities in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, and Nebraska

By consolidating our energy supply operations, we've been able to increase value for each of these divisions by maintaining lower energy costs and enhanced reliability for customers. And if we can accomplish this for our own utilities, we can certainly accomplish it for you.

You can take advantage of our technical and market expertise. We currently operate three electric system control areas in two NERC reliability regions, with load spanning two time zones across two grids. In addition, we manage more than 15 Bcf of natural gas per year on 4 mid-continent pipelines, using a variety of firm transportation, storage and supply assets.
