How Can Energy Resources Help Maximize Existing Resources?
In order to manage price sensitivity and volatility of energy commodities our staff
works 24 hours a day conducting various transactions to limit exposure to risk. Some
of these functions include:
- Load forecasting - Provides accurate load forecasting based on short-term
and long-term weather predictions.
- Gas nominations - Assesses fuel costs to determine appropriate strategies
for purchasing and selling of electric and gas commodities.
- Economic dispatch - Allocates joint unit control with individual generating
units to achieve the most economical production of electricity.
- Energy Trading - Reduces cost while maximizing assets by making energy purchases
and sales on an hourly, daily, weekly, monthly basis and longer with wholesale and
native load customers.
- Aggregation - Combines resources and loads to provide greater economies
of scale.
- Ancillary Services - Provides operations services such as Energy Imbalance,
Operating Reserves (both supplemental and spinning), Regulation and Frequency Response
as identified by the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC Order No. 888)
as necessary to transfer electricity between purchasing and selling entities.
- Delivery constraints- Evaluate all aspects of delivery to minimize the effect
of possible constraints for both gas and electric.
